I set out to find a small doll house with furniture for the girls I babysit as well as my grands. Something small and easy. Something durable. Something cheap.
At Goodwill I found this house (which folds nicely) and many people for under $4.00. My daughter added some people too. Was mostly girl dolls. I needed some menfolk. THEN I went back and in the $1.00 for how much you could stuff in a bag bin I found Fisher Price People and furniture. $5.00 total, and now the house is stuffed the max. I also have been looking for a castle and knights. Goodwill had this sturdy one. It will work for now. The girls I babysit insist the 3 My Pretty Ponies live in it. ALSO, I found this Princess Jewelery Box. Precious. SO, the Princess' who play here, have a home, a jewelery box, and castle.

Because we came home early from our trip to DFW Sat, we decided to go on a short day trip with our doggies. Just hubby and I. We got out the atlas. We loaded up the doggies! Bassets, Mellow and Reba rode in back. Smart hubby laid down an old blanket for them, which was wonderful since BOTH bassets threw up. Twice. My chihuahua/pekingese puppy, however marvelous. (After all toy dogs are travel partners:)
Hubby splurged on a new 'cube' cooler with wheels. This was a lovely thing! My man must have a cold A&W on hand as he travels, and getting 2 liters at Wal-mart before hand sure saved us a bundle (my man LOVES to shop the convenience store:). I have a wonderful backpack I like to travel with. We were totally prepared. Except no paper towels, and hubby got tired of finding trash on the side of the road to scrape the barf off of the blanket. (because I am an old pro at barf scraping, I have little sympathy:) Caddo Lake State Park is very east Texas (almost Louisiana), in about 2 hours later we arrived!!!
My sis-in-law gave us this neat surprise bag as a gift. We were to find a special spot and open it. We finally took it, and found a spot!!! You can tell it was made for winter, it had a yummy soft blue blanket, 2 mugs, hot chocolate, and a thermos. Wonderful idea!!! We found the most wonderful private picnic spot right on the water! The lake area is full of pine, oak, cypress and of course Spanish moss hanging from the trees. The dogs waited patiently for us to have our lunch. Mell and Reba were quite the people greeters, which means my puppy is learning to be friendly. Then we went walking on the trails. The dogs LOVED the lake water. I loved the cypress knees. The smell of lake, pine and cypress was heavenly. Hubby wants to bring fishing gear next time. We checked out the camping areas too. Heavenly.
Heavenly!
After we walked a trail, old basset Mell tuckered out quick, we drove over to this area. WOW! So tranquil. Get this, NO mosquito's, NO ticks, NO flies, NO trash, NO rude people, cooler weather, perfect perfect day!!
Wonderful! Totally amazed by God's wonders.
Yep, perfectly, perfect.
We walked out on the peir. Mell is anti camera so most of my photos are of him hiding behind hubby. He was quite the ham on the leash, with his prancing, and tail held high. Reba was recovering from the ride (her first long one, probably ever, in her almost five years), and getting her second wind. Puppy, Frankiebaby, was on overdrive from the moment we arrived. After the peir we went to the road side for a last potty break chance. Frankiebaby dug herself a spot and plopped her tummy right down on the cool soil. What a cutie pie. On the way home we went back through Jefferson, Texas, where I lived as a child, and drove by the funeral home dad worked at, and we lived on top of. The stairs are the ones we used to go up.
I can now say I have been to Uncertain, Texas (I kind of remember going as a child), which borders Caddo Lake State Park. The doggies were so tuckered out they slept the whole way home, and most of the next day.
We normally don't go places together, and this is the first doggie trip. We want to have things handy to 'just go', cheap. We want to see the local sites, and maybe do some 'overnighting' with our camper. Hopefully. I know one thing, this trip was fun. Hubby, fun. Doggies well mannered, fun. Nature, fun. Lovely and fun.
My future daughter-in-law is planning a quick wedding (only five weeks to be exact). I love how girls have their own taste. Her style is all her own. I wanted to get a cake topper for her as a keepsake. I was able to buy my daughter's, and it was fun to be able to do. My wedding cake topper was picked out and purchased by my mother-in-law. We had a quick wedding (21 years ago), and she graciously did our reception. She did the cake, the topper, the decorating, the hosting. It was lovely. And I treasure my wedding couple.
So, I have a question. If you could pick, or re-pick a perfect wedding cake topper what would you pick? And what did you have on your cake?

My daughter called and asked if I could watch GS David, seems GD LauraJune broke her arm on Sunday during a slip-n-slide accident (landed wrong playing with dad). They were going to take her to get her hard cast. Gladly, I headed to McDonald's and (of course) took the camera!! She picked yellow for her brace wrap. Then I put David in the back of the truck while I loaded his car seat. What a BIG man stance!! I'm so amazed how much fun these kids have with stuff that costs nothing. David is a ham, and when you get out the camera, he starts the 'cccchhhheeeezzzzeee'ing:) When LauraJune came out, she wanted some of this exciting wheel action too! Happy to oblige (and get a better shot of her and her yellow brace)... Then little man, and I headed home... He is SO cute... And 'cccccchhhhheeeeeezzzzzzeeeee'y... We went outside to document some plant action. (Goodness, I'm loving this wild growth!!!) Inside checking out the 'new' chair... Of course he came over to ham for the camera... And pull the poor kitty's ears:)... Poor kitty...
Back to the chair...up over the arm... Time out to rub an eye (but trust me, he's not really sleepy;)... Back to flipping... Down he goes... And that's how you do it (over and over and over)... Didn't take him long to wear himself out. Luckily hubby was able to spend some time with David the next morning. And I got spend the day with him, my girls I babysit and my future daughter-in-laws girls!! House full of lovely little ones! My daughter said LauraJune did well at the doctor's yesterday, but is a little crabby today. In 6 weeks it will be as good as new:)
