Sharry Baby Joy

Today while watering the bathroom plants,
I noticed my poor Sharry Baby Orchid has what I think is a spike!!

(spike=bloom=J.O.Y.)

Last year, after my Sharry Baby Orchid bloomed, I re-potted her in a semi-hydro method.
I was having problems not over watering her,
and was worried I would kill her,
semi-hydro was supposed to take care of that.
I just used a plastic food container,
with drain holes about half way up, and clay pellets instead of soil or bark.

Perfect.
Then I put her in my sunny kitchen window,
because I had read they like a lot of sun.
AND I wanted to make sure she was enjoyed.
(and remembered:).

Her leaf tips spotted up,
but in bright light that is supposed to be ok.
(Yellowing came later)


THEN her once smooth, fat bulbs started shriveling!!!
Not ok.
Not ok at all!!
So she went back to my well lit bathroom.
(I apoligized profusly! And, much to my pleasure, she graciously forgave me:)

Since then,
while in the bathroom,
her new leaves are thick and green,
and new blubs have been full and plump.
 (a sign of a happy orchid)



So, with the excitement of the possible spike, I treated her to a nice shower (to remove the layer of dust).
I trimmed off ALL the yellow, dead, or ugly.
Told her I loved her, as I took her picture,
then came to share my Sharry Baby love on my blog!!

In church yesterday, I realized I regret not enjoying my life more.


So this year, I'm taking a lesson from the Queen.
Queen Uno is the MASTER at enjoying the moment.
At 10+ she has experienced much, yet she still enjoys life.
My leader, my example, my fine feline friend.

O (little) Christmas Tree, O (little) Christmas Tree...

How lovely are your (little) branches...



This year I didn't get out the big tree.
I'm supposed to be packing to move.
So,
I didn't want to set up the tree when I was really going to be packing up stuff.
(turns out, I didn't pack anything either:/, but that is a different post.)

Sooooooooooooo...
I bought a little second hand tree ($1.50),
added this years (.25 cent) angel and called it good.
THEN I added a string of gaudy star lights ($1.00),
and blue beads ($1.00).
Not good enough.
THEN I added gold foil stars (.50 cents),
covered the base with tissue paper,
and attached this years 'couple' ornament Mr. & Mrs. Claus (.25 cents).
(gotta do my part for the economy and supporting my local thrift stores)



Ta Da!!! Perfectly Shiny and Gaudy!!
This little tree will go to its new home in the camper when I find the perfect box.

Temptation Thy Name is Home Depot...

I have purposely been avoiding plant nurseries.

See, I'm moving from my home of two years to my "dream" home (on my mom's property on the lake).

So, no more plants.

NO MORE.

Well...hubby was shopping at the Home Depot, and I thought looking at the plants would be safe.


After all I already have everything Home Depot offers.

Right?

Wrong...

Our Home Depot is now offering a dwarf Chinese Fringe bush, a Purple Pixie Loropetalum.
Something I have dreamed of...


AND a red to purple dwarf nandina:
