Thankful Thursday: 02/18/09

This week Thankful Thursday is all about...
'the little things'

"Have not I written to thee excellent things in counsels and knowledge,
That I might make thee know the certainty of the words of truth; that thou mightest answer the words of truth to them that send unto thee?"
Proverbs 22: 20-21
I am thankful for sacred words to guide me, to comfort me.

I am thankful to live in a free country where I may worship as I please.
"We claim the privilege of worshiping Almighty God according to the dictates of our own conscience, and allow all men the same privilege, let them worship how, where, or what they may." (A of F 11)
For positive powerful words from above.
"Now was not this exceeding joy? Behold, this is joy which none receiveth save it be the truly penitent and humble seeker of happiness."
Alma 27:18
For how comforted and strong I feel when I do partake.
For free give-aways on fellow bloggers web page (thank you Smiling Sally:)

I am thankful for the organization of my church.
"8 Behold, mine house is a house of order, saith the Lord God, and not a house of confusion."
D&C 132: 8
I am thankful for Uno's imput in my 6/7 yo Sunday School lessons.
I am thankful for my 6/7 yos who ALWAYS teach me.
I am thankful for Mike for taking my class Sunday for me:)

I am thankful for Valentine's bounty, and that love is a year round thing:)
"Beloved, let us alove one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God."
I Jn. 4:7

I am thankful for the girls I babysit and watching them as they sing to their reflections in the glass.
"Sing praises to God, sing praises: sing praises unto our King, sing praises."
Ps. 47:6

I'm thankful hubby is recovering from his flu, that he works so hard to provide for my family.
"Go to the ant, thou sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise..."
Prov. 6:6

I am thankful for the promise of seeds.
"To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven..."
Eccl. 3:1

I'm thankful Reba insists on being a lap dog, no matter HOW you feel:)

I am thankful that this dirty child has really gone the extra mile to help his ailing great uncle and grandma.
"The father of the righteous shall greatly rejoice: and he that begetteth a wise child shall have joy of him."
Prov. 23:24

I am thankful this child has his truck running, street legal, and sanded down, getting it ready to paint (and so is Taylor:).
"Man goeth forth unto his work and to his labour until the evening."
Ps. 104:23

I am thankful for my beautiful best friend

Who follows me everywhere, and not just to beg for food or water!
I feel guilty every time I have to move her.
Now I remember why we got her a kitten.

I am so thankful for my sweet mother, for ALL my children-know I love you beyond words, for my life, and my health. For laughter and tears. For people that care, and people to care about. For my God, and my Savior. God bless you today:)
My goal this year is to soak it up, to bloom where I am planted, and enjoy the ride...
Counting my many blessings naming them one by one...

Love Dare: Day 13

Today is my LOVE DARE catch up day:)
I didn't do it Sunday, and Monday I spent mourning my doggie. My sweet husband was so there for me, and I'm so thankful. (to you to Mike and Tay for your kindness toward our hurt Si, and with your old weepy mom). Thank you all for your kind words, they soothe my heart. Yesterday was a beautiful weather day, and I spend most of it piddling in the yard, moving a little dirt, sorting through the stuff pile. Just soaking up the sun. Good therapy.

The Love Dare
I can't tell you what great stuff is in this book, two or three pages of easy to read information, challenge, and room to record the journey.

Tuesday
DAY THIRTEEN: Love fights fair
"If a house is divided against itself, that house will not be able to stand."
Mark 3:25
CHALLENGE: Talk with your spouse about establishing healthy rules of engagement. If your mate is not ready for this, then write out your own personal rules to 'fight' by. Resolve to abide by them when the next disagreement occurs. {results tomorrow-think I'll write out my own first, then 'edit' them if hubby is willing.}

Monday
DAY TWELVE: Love lets the other win.
"Do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others."
Philippians 2:4
CHALLENGE: Demonstrate love by willingly choosing to give in to an area of disagreement between you and your spouse. Tell them you are putting their preference first. {I will do this during the next disagreement-probably when hubby gets back in town Thurs, or maybe tonight on the phone-disagreeing is easy:}

Sunday
DAY ELEVEN: Love cherishes
"Husbands ought also to love their own wives as their own bodies."
Ephesians 5:28
CHALLENGE: What need does your spouse have that you could meet today? Choose a gesture that says, "I cherish you" and do it with a smile. (this I did without meaning to! Woohoo!!!)

I DARE you to go love someone-even if they aren't very 'lovely'
