Fertilizer Friday: Spring Promise

Last Saturday, I had three of my grandbabies, and the two oldest kids I babysit.
Its warm enough now to plant flower seeds outside, but I really like my little loves seeing the miracle of growth.

First we "fluffed up" the peat pots (fun fun fun), then planted: four 'o clocks, sunflowers, different types of zinnias, marigolds, balsam, and 'bunny tails' or better know as bachelor buttons.

Less than a week some are already coming up.

(Rebecca, Kaylie, David, LauraJune)

I'm filling in the empty spots with these easy annuals. My five and four year old darlings I babysit remember doing this with me before. That's what its all about, seeing and remembering. We WILL do this every year.

Thank you God for the miracle of growth, and my eyes to see, and my little ones to share with!!

Wha'ts all dat white stuff????

Here in East Texas, we do good to get one or two 'frostings' of snow a year.
This months 'snow storm' of EIGHT inches had us ALL spell bound...
Especially Princess Froggee who has never seen this stuff in her life!!
She keep wanting to go out in it, then turned right around and wanted back in.

She decided INSIDE was the best way to view this phenomenon.

Building Supervisor

Princess Froggee,
as the perfect Building Supervisor for the kingdom,

fully understands,

sometimes,

you must get in the middle of things,

in order to truly guide the building process,

(chomp)
especially when the laborers don't speak cat.

Fortunately, for the labors,

they listen well to feline guidance.

"Girls, Girls, Girls"

Today, I looked at the girls I'm babysitting, and, appropriately on Elvis' 75th birthday, I thought of "Girls, Girls, Girls"
(my type of "Girls, Girls, Girls")

It is also my mom and late dad's wedding anniversary.
Mom said they didn't plan on it being on Elvis' birthday, just happened that way!!
Happy Anniversary Mom and Dad!!

Finally The Princess' Have a Castle

I set out to find a small doll house with furniture for the girls I babysit as well as my grands. Something small and easy. Something durable. Something cheap.

At Goodwill I found this house (which folds nicely) and many people for under $4.00. My daughter added some people too. Was mostly girl dolls. I needed some menfolk.
THEN I went back and in the $1.00 for how much you could stuff in a bag bin I found Fisher Price People and furniture.
$5.00 total, and now the house is stuffed the max.
I also have been looking for a castle and knights. Goodwill had this sturdy one. It will work for now.
The girls I babysit insist the 3 My Pretty Ponies live in it. ALSO, I found this Princess Jewelery Box. Precious. SO, the Princess' who play here, have a home, a jewelery box, and castle.

Thankful Thursday: 03/05/09 *

Today is WISDOM, I pray for the wisdom to appreciate and give thanks for what I have right here, right now. In that is power, power to feel, power to heal, power to grow, power to know:)

I am so thankful that this doggy is behaving:)
(Miss Reba waiting so patiently for a treat)

I am thankful that Miss Reba shares her 'healing powers' with Taylor,
that Taylor is feeling better after being bit by the flu bug,
that Taylor (who is caring for sick GreatUncle's cows) did NOT set Uncle F's pasture on fire on purpose, but it was an accident. I am thankful for the wonderful fire department that came and saved the day:)

I am thankful for sweet hubby, that doesn't hide his face when I come at him with the camera for 'thankful day'.

I am thankful for Myspace Mike, who willingly drove all the way to Ohio (from Texas) and back to help someone move (love ya Mike, so thankful you got there and back safely)

I am thankful for Myspace Eric, who finishes up his 4 year service in the Navy today, that he was able to enjoy a little New Orleans on the Navy's tab:).

I am SO thankful for the 10 yr old I babysit (and have since he was 13 months old), and the special time we have together. I love his outlook, his gentle spirit.

I am thankful for Facebook Tiffany family pictures from WI! For granddaughter Audrey and her daddy. I am thankful that the angels protected this great guy when he had his car accident. And just left him bruised. That he is now able to stay home with Audrey (while Tiff works) as he heals, and Audrey is not feeling well.

I am thankful for my beautiful Step-daughter Tiffany and my granddaughter Audrey:

I am thankful that Audrey is able to stay home from daycare right now and is getting better, PLUS spending special time with her daddy:)

I am thankful for color and my eyes to see it, in my dishes:

In the colors of the sunset, and my view of it...

I am thankful my menfolk moved the bbq'er to the back yard (WooHoo!:)

I'm thankful for our pile of shoes, that remind me of the sweet feet that wear them, and of abundance:)

I am thankful for my son DJ, my third born, number five in the over all line up. His willingness to serve his country. Spending the weekend with him in our home, as he prepared to leave for Austin, in the final preparation to go overseas in April.

I am thankful that the military prepares our boys,

I am thankful we were able to see DJ off to the airport. I so enjoy the man his is, and his company!!

I am thankful that my new blogger friend Ernie is able to take her 'bucket list' trip!! AND that she could overnight here!!! WOOHOO!!!
Me and Ernie of The Empty Nest

Travel parenter Sis-in-law Marie and Ernie, THANK YOU GUYS!!! I so enjoyed your visit:, I hope you have a wonderful safe trip:)

I am thankful for my little girls I get to babysit, and the excitement they bring into everyday.
I am thankful for my step-son Aaron, and the life he chooses to live. I hope to see him this year.
I am thankful my family members are on the mend from this flu stuff.
I am thankful for the internet, for pictures of my family and my blogger friends!!
I am thankful I will be keeping the local grands tomorrow, and that hubby is so excited about it!!
Have a GREAT Thankful Day!!

My goal this year is to soak it up, to bloom where I am planted, and enjoy the ride...

Bloomin' Tuesday! 03/03/09

I bought one of those beans that have message imprinted on it, it is a huge bean.

above photo from eBay link:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Beans-Magic-Bean-Assorted-Messages-10-Pack_W0QQitemZ270352712085QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item270352712085&_trksid=p3286.m63.l1177#ebayphotohosting

I had the boy I babysit plant it, and but didn't take pictures (MUST document it:), so I took it out of the dirt for a photo opt. The words have already started to 'melt' because of the moisture in the peat pellet. I put it back in the peat pellet.

That little puffy peat pot thing was too small

So I upped the size, and used a real pot

Wasn't long til it started growing!!!

Loves the light in the kitchen window

And here it is today: This is like a Jack and the Beanstalk Bean. I have heard the beans don't taste so good, so we are just growing it to look at. Can you see the 'I love you' on it?

Other stuff:
Yellow Kalachoe

Old fashion redish Kalachoe

Seelings:)

Makeshift greenhouse (garden tub):

In our bedroom:

When I cut these back 02/03/09:

The tropical pot today: look at the growth!!!

Growing jasmine, and sweet potato:

Leafing out tropical bush thing:

Outside I'm enjoying this pot of sedums and daylilies and peach blossoms.

Ahhh, almost spring!
