MY CASTOR BEAN PLANT!!! WOW! What a beauty!!! Its atleast 20' tall (in one season)
As stated before this is my first one, and it started as a tiny 2" plant.
It is so beautiful from every angle.
It is right by my front door, above our deck railing, marvelous!
The way it sways in the wind, glistens when wet, the back lit, the dark shadows,
the crazy blooms, brillant red turning seed pods, the prickly dark seed pods! Yes, this is love! It has earned its place in my heart!!
I love this new plant! It really echos the Castor Bean, Maple Sugar Hibiscus-Hibiscus acetosella 'Maple Sugar' PP13286
Morning Sun, Semi-moist, Blooms in Summer, 3-5' x 1-2', 30 to 20 degrees
(it seems pretty tough, and is quite a water hog) The leaves are outrageous!
In my welcome tub, this weed is a reliable late bloomer-any idea what it is?
Last but not least, blooming like crazy in my yard:
NUT GRASS!! Nut grass makes me nutty:(

Castor Bean & Maple Sugar are gorgeous with their burgundy foliage. That weed looks kind of like Queen Anne's Lace, but not sure that is what it is.
Years ago I planted caster beans and I received so many comments about them. The red turning seed pods on yours are amazing. I think that I might plant them myself next year.

Years ago, I planted castor beans. I loved how fast and lush they grew. Then I found out how poisonous they are especially the hulls of the beans. It would probably be a quirky thing for anyone to actually get poisoned but it scared me enough to start planting it.
Sorry my first comment to your blog has a warning in it! I really do think they are fun to grow AND maybe I am just a worry wart.

I had no idea that there was even a plant called the castor bean but like I've said before--I LOVE how you LOVE your plants--and I learn something new all the time! Hope you have a great day!
The Castor Bean plant brings back memories! I haven't seen one in at least 40 years. We used to use the beans to make little stick-together animals. I'm surprised to still be alive after handling so many poison plants! Great photos.

Wowzers on that Castor Bean plant!! I have seen them before but never that big. It must be REALLY happy!
Is that where castor oil comes from? I've never seen the plant before! It is a knockout.
I don't know much about photography, but I use Adobe PhotoShop software that came with my Dell computer. It is pretty user friendly, I picked up working with it easily, and I am the one they wrote all those "xxx for Dummies" books for!

I've never seen a castor bean plant but it is beautiful. I love the red pods. The colors of the Maple Sugar is my favorite love burgundy plants. Great post! Jean
Like others, I've never seen a castor bean plant either! A great benefit of Bloomin' Tuesday is learning all about plants others have that I know nothing about. The red seed pods are beautiful.

Nut grass and dandelions we are kindred spirits. I noticed the dandelion flowers in the back yard today. GRR. So tomorrow the horses are moving! I loved seeing all your plants. I had never seen that Castor bean it is cool looking. I am having camera problems myself. Using a 35mm which means going to get developed. What a pain. I think I got spoiled with the digital.

Love your caster bean plant. Heard it was very poisonous. I try not to have any thing that is poisionous in my yard because I am afraid my desert turtle or one of grandchildren will eat it! I remember growing up around one, I was never told it could get you sick. Glad I never tried it! LOL
