Tomatoes 05/11

This is planted in one of those garden tote things on wheels, in case I decide to take it to the camper.

It has one Speckled Roman Roma (in back), three Sweet'n Neat Scarlet tomatoes (in front), Homestead Purple Verbena, Crimson w/eye Verbena, Boxwood Basil, and a Lilac colored periwinkle.

These little Sweet'n Neat (cherry) tomatoes only get 18" tall:).
I found them on sale and think this size is perfect for this pot.
(they also had a Tumbling Tom but I think this upright mini tomato plant will work better for me)

Hubby loves the red-I love the purple...

All Walmart had was this brown or black so I picked brown.
They USED to have really bright colored totes.

I planted (left) two Arkansas Traveler tomatoes (med pink size), and beefstakes (right front) Mortgage Lifter, (back right) Old German Tomatoes.
Also yellow squashes...


See the little green sticks near the edge? 
I accidentally broke off my Old German and Mortgage Lifter Tomato plants and, because they have such great root systems, I hope they recover...

But I'm rooting the tops as back up.

Cherry tomatoes: (left two) Orange Sunsugar, (back) Yellow Pear, (right) Red Juliet; basil, sweet yellow pepper, marigolds...

I didn't want lots of one type of  tomato plants, I wanted less but special heirloom tomatoes.
I went to the plant store after 4 tomato plants: 1 beefstake, 1 roma, 1 red cherry, 1 yellow pear cherry tomatoes.
I came home with 13 tomato plants: 4 beefstakes, 1 roma, and 4 cherry tomatoes, 4 Sweet'n Neat mini cherry tomatoes.
(and I had to really narrow it down:)
Even tho our Spring season seems to be running late,
most people in our area are already harvesting tomatoes, we start early here in East Texas.   

Except for the Yellow Pear Cherry tomato, we haven't tried these types and we are really excited.

Easter (pt 1) 2011

The Saturday before Easter Sunday, we do Easter at my mom's.
Mom has decided we need to celebrate birthdays twice a year, so the first half of the year-rs had cake.

Best part of this was the 'team' it took to like those candles!!
Look at the cake all 'ablaze.'
Happy Birthday Mom, Uncle Gary, Aunt Rena, Son-in-law Ralph, and Uncle Fred:).

Grandkids LauraJune (4), David (3) and Jeremiah (1.5) had a blast doing eggs.
This always proves entertaining.

Grandboy Kale (4 mos) made a surprise visit.

This was Miah's first Easter egg hunt and he was precious!!
The weather was great, and the grandkids had so much fun!!

Spending the day with these granddarlings is the best!!!

Top Secret Council

The Royal Family takes a break from a TOP SECRET council meeting.

As you can see, Queen Uno, Princess Froggee and newly appointed Peasant Pooch Representative, Princess Blu, are reading and discussing "Cesar's Rules" THE dog training manual for Pooch Patrols.

Look out Peasants Pooches, the Royal Kitties now have Dog Whisperer insight.

I had quite a chuckle seeing the cats sleeping on my dog training book!! 

Actually I'm glad they CAN'T read, or we would ALL be in trouble!!

Oh this entertaining is hard on a pooch...

With the spaying, all the traveling,

And the company,

Staying on top of everything is hard work for a baby basset...

Tiring, but worth it!

Son, DJ, joined us at the camper.  What a wonderful evening.  We listened to music (no TV;).  We had a nice dinner, hubby and DJ played dominoes, I read a flower magazine, while the puppy snoozed-loudly.  Wonderful!!

FEMA (Camper) Upgrades as of 04/11

Part of the fun of this camper has been searching high and low for the 'perfect' (cheap) camper furnishings:
I'm usually down there Monday-Wednesday, and I know every thrift/dollar/clearance store between here and there:

I found this cool tiger blanket for hubby for $5.00.
He loves it, and I like it on top of the bed to hide the basset hair Lady provides.:)

I got this neat blue and red comforter for $3.00. 
I was hoping it would fit my bed at home, but its too small. 
This bed is a regular size and it fits perfectly.

We have an extra faucet hook up in back and I brought along this from home, I'm hoping our next trip down will lead to some roof/siding cleaning;).

Got a long flow-thru brush for that planned cleaning too. 
Also some foam to go in the window where hubby has the dish cable run. 

While at Goodwill with my daughter, she pointed out these A&M pillows. 
Hubby loves A&M. 
I love maroon and my daughter commented I could do the whole camper in Aggie colors and BOTH hubby and I would be happy. 
He agreed,
I'm not so sure...

At the DollarTree (everything is a dollar store) I found this small dish drain rack and matching wash tub. 
I love how it fits on this corner and still leaves so much of the kitchen space open. 
I'd like to find a way to make a little ledge or something to make it more stable. 
(I also LOVE my solar lantern-it needs a better place too.)

 I bought quite a few and plan on having them in every room of the camper.

So far so good in the kitchen area;). I want to do more organizing with shelves and hooks, but haven't decided exactly what I want yet...

I bought this cast iron griddle, and these measuring scoops.

I want to figure out a way to put the scoops on the wall for easy access. 

I saw some one pulling one of these and had to ask where they got it. 
Walmart of course. 
Small, with wheels this is just the right size for transporting food back and forth.

And, because I couldn't stand NO greenery, I found the perfect solution, that bamboo stuff that lives in water.
 I put pretty glass marbles in it, and fake orchid type flowers. 

THEN I decided my ZZ plant would do well too...

Added some fake red poppies (which hubby decided the poppies were a good choice for him because the grands call him Poppy;) and it is well on its way.
