Bloomin' Tuesday: 06/16/09

Saturday hubby and I went to Lowe's on our way to see "Imagine That" at the movie theaters. (Its a small town so plant shopping is limited.) A lime green sweet potato vine was what I was after.

We were cutting it close to movie time so I was in a big hurry.

Straight in, straight out.

TILL the clerk said with a big smile, 'EVERYTHING is HALF price today!!!!'

This wasn't the 'death row' clearance rack I usually shop from, this was chock full of newly arrived, freshly watered plants!!! The race was on!!! I zipped up and down the isles. And found every thing I was looking for!!!!

For $16.20!!!!

Yellow and orange lantana

Yellow and pinks lantana

I was really surprised to see this purple tuber on the lime green sweet potato vine

Look at this pretty lilac color:)

This was the look I was going for:)
Purple leaf sweet potato, mini petunia, lime green sweet potato

I added a purple leaf sweet potato vine with my hibiscus'

I bought two 6 packs of Purslane (we call is rose moss). I do this every year. My mom has tons that come back from seed, BUT impatient me has to go and buy some. These are single flowered reds, oranges and yellows. I split them up and planted them everywhere. Very reliable.

  2. It was a good thing you were pressed for time, no telling what you would have purchased! LOL Great plants here. I cut my potato vines and put them in a glass of water, in about 3 days they have rooted and I tuck them all around my gardens. This way the center of the potato vine get bushy.
