<br />
<b>When I'm Away From You</b><br />
<i><b>Bellamy Brothers</b></i><br />
<br />
<br />
When I'm away from you well, I can't stay still<br />
My thoughts won't move from the way I feel<br />
It happens time and time again<br />
And the circle never ends<br />
<br />
When I'm away from you <br />
Well it hurts to say <br />
My sense has gone so far away <br />
I'm up all through the night <br />
And I can't tell wrong from right <br />
<br />
When I'm away from you I see great big clouds <br />
In the fog and rain all the lonely crowds <br />
They seem to be so blue <br />
Every night I'm missing you <br />
When I'm away from you<br />
<br />
When I'm away from you well the sun don't shine <br />
The mood don't come <br />
The words don't rhyme <br />
When I'm away from you I can't let go <br />
And you know, oh, you know <br />
<br />
It's all the things you do that make life worth while <br />
Like the way you talk and the way you smile <br />
It's all the things you do keep me hanging on <br />
And you know, don't you know <br />
<br />
When I'm away from you well the wine won't flow <br />
The tides don't turn and the wind don't blow <br />
I'm up all through the night <br />
And I can't tell wrong from right <br />
<br />
When I'm away from you the sun don't shine <br />
The mood don't come <br />
The words don't rhyme <br />
When I'm away from you I can't let go <br />

What would have me up before the sun??? <br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-oEeobT5pkmc/UAlmiUbqL8I/AAAAAAAAJI8/0ZsbPQU8qmw/s1600/107_2246.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-oEeobT5pkmc/UAlmiUbqL8I/AAAAAAAAJI8/0ZsbPQU8qmw/s320/107_2246.JPG" width="320" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"></td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
THIS!! New plants, and new soil!! (I went shopping:)<br />
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-DJWqB9pQZ8k/UAlm0f49v2I/AAAAAAAAJJM/lII8i7P19vU/s1600/107_2248.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-DJWqB9pQZ8k/UAlm0f49v2I/AAAAAAAAJJM/lII8i7P19vU/s640/107_2248.JPG" width="640" /></a> <br />
Also trying to 'play' in the dirt before THIS <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Grandboy Kale, 19 mos old </td></tr>
</tbody></table>
woke up. <br />
Didn't happen. <br />
SO after grandboy, Kale, had some breakfast, we went back out to the front porch to do some 'dirty' work. Ok, not really work, but we did get good and dirty. <br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-5CwEjBAr1Qg/UAloA0-M7zI/AAAAAAAAJJc/Kriyfgl8Yqo/s1600/107_2253.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-5CwEjBAr1Qg/UAloA0-M7zI/AAAAAAAAJJc/Kriyfgl8Yqo/s640/107_2253.JPG" width="480" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Kale models the Scheurich Sprayman aka Grandma's new toy</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
Mr. Kale stayed on the porch while I re potted. <br />
First playing with this super cool watering can-sprayer thingy. <br />
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-yfiLQm9z700/UAlpanfuVjI/AAAAAAAAJKM/FcvrQiXJ21E/s1600/107_2259.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-yfiLQm9z700/UAlpanfuVjI/AAAAAAAAJKM/FcvrQiXJ21E/s640/107_2259.JPG" width="640" /></a>Kale demonstrating how NOT to use the watering can:). <br />
Shortly after I had to put it up, because SOMEONE was chewing on it. <br />
Little beaver boy. <br />
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-7d5Kh_p968g/UAlpPtY3RJI/AAAAAAAAJJ8/MaBV0o2nr70/s1600/107_2257.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-7d5Kh_p968g/UAlpPtY3RJI/AAAAAAAAJJ8/MaBV0o2nr70/s400/107_2257.JPG" width="400" /></a> <br />
Mr. Man enjoyed watching the machinery from the work site next door.
Wish this little guest house had a glass door so I could leave the wood
one open and he could watch the activity all day. He is able to catch
some action from a side window. Poor tortured soul. <br />
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-bfsgyuVViJc/UAlqGTvu_kI/AAAAAAAAJKk/1XDGEteJDKE/s1600/107_2266.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-bfsgyuVViJc/UAlqGTvu_kI/AAAAAAAAJKk/1XDGEteJDKE/s640/107_2266.JPG" width="640" /></a><br />
Then we upgraded to a dog water bowl full of water and a cup. This lasted the longest. <br />
<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Horse herb, ???, strawberry, squash, Pigeon berry and Horehound along back</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
I decided to add my new treasures to this grow pot (which is so cool). It is a self watering pot. I brought three with me, but since the homeowner already has a garden, and all my food plants <strike>were murdered</strike> died, I don't think I will be using two of them. <br />
<br />

The pooches watched from inside, until SOMEONE started pouring water on the screen door, and I had to close it. Poor pooches.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-auQcuMDOdC0/UAlpHN9QvbI/AAAAAAAAJJ0/hTDPic_LTsY/s1600/107_2256.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-auQcuMDOdC0/UAlpHN9QvbI/AAAAAAAAJJ0/hTDPic_LTsY/s320/107_2256.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
When we went on our road trip to Wisconsin, I saw one of these at Target, and bought it for a souvenir. I decided it would make a nice 'salad bowl'. (I have a smaller one with succulents back at home) I'm going to try salad greens in the summer. They are not recommended here in our hot weather. We'll see-won't hurt, that's for sure:). <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
Today's players: <br />
At the Lowe's clearance rack I found:<br />
healthy rosemary (which I needed)<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-1GcFogFiLiA/UAlpgN0PmbI/AAAAAAAAJKU/EPt-ec62EoY/s1600/107_2260.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-1GcFogFiLiA/UAlpgN0PmbI/AAAAAAAAJKU/EPt-ec62EoY/s320/107_2260.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>

And three different verbena (which I wanted;) <br />
We have a solid red and purple at home. <br />
These are hardy in our neck of the woods. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I hope these live. They were in one of the pots hubby DID NOT water while I was away. Shampoo Ginger. <br />
Mail order. <br />
Cha-ching. <br />
Boo hoo.<br />
Boo hoo. <br />

Took him a while but, he finally sat in the bowl. Fun, fun, fun!<br />

Ta-Da!! Over planted, and I don't care. I'll be taking it home this fall and putting it in the yard, so right now it is 'intense' planting. :)<br />
<br />
<br />

<br />
Now to my sad sad orchids. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-iem0E23OIlw/UAlrLa9BPII/AAAAAAAAJLE/sv7FzoxK-Po/s1600/107_2272.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-iem0E23OIlw/UAlrLa9BPII/AAAAAAAAJLE/sv7FzoxK-Po/s320/107_2272.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
My mini Sharry baby, who bloomed so well for me this spring. No medium left. how long can the poor dried up thing function on nothing? So shriveled. :( I'm trying a new orchid 'soil' we will see how it does. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-XF70477ntkI/UAlrSkRGJpI/AAAAAAAAJLM/NT-Y8jbJXFU/s1600/107_2274.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-XF70477ntkI/UAlrSkRGJpI/AAAAAAAAJLM/NT-Y8jbJXFU/s320/107_2274.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
My other Sharry baby. I took a deep breath, and just ripped all the shriveled parts off. All that was left was these three tiny babies. :( At our old house (before we moved to mom's) this was in my bathroom, and was thriving. Then it got neglected and it is barely surviving. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-WNthqBMxL0I/UAlrXy2lMLI/AAAAAAAAJLU/x4Fcl7UjeGg/s1600/107_2275.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-WNthqBMxL0I/UAlrXy2lMLI/AAAAAAAAJLU/x4Fcl7UjeGg/s640/107_2275.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
Currently I'm using the bottom of a plastic cup, later I'll switch to one of those small clay pots. *sigh*<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-LCB8jiFbGzY/UAlrfG-gVFI/AAAAAAAAJLc/Kjiw_dcVDGM/s1600/107_2276.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-LCB8jiFbGzY/UAlrfG-gVFI/AAAAAAAAJLc/Kjiw_dcVDGM/s320/107_2276.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
I put them back in the planter they sit in, used the cut off part of the red cup as a 'brace' for the orchid. Nothing else holding it up. *sigh* Like I said, I hope they like the new orchid soil. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-BQ15HlHLnnw/UAlrmvU7_eI/AAAAAAAAJLk/g3ubeHeXjw8/s1600/107_2277.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-BQ15HlHLnnw/UAlrmvU7_eI/AAAAAAAAJLk/g3ubeHeXjw8/s320/107_2277.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
That stack a pot thing in back (REAL hard not to put my new flowers in it, but its only for edibles:), window box planter, and dumb cane. Had to move that dumb cane before the sun REALLY hit it. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Went thru my seeds. Can't decide what greens to plant in the salad bowl. Other than mescalin, spinach, kale (the plant not the grandchild) beets, rocket, any suggestions? I've got lots of spots. <br />

One more look at my new watering can. First, its purple. I love purple. Second, its thick plastic. Third, it has a SPRAYER on it!!! Fourth, its see through!!! Fifth, its got a nice handle for hanging. <br />
And sixth, its cool looking:) <br />
Gonna enjoy this one. <br />
{Silly son asked why someone would want a sprayer on their watering can!! I have failed as a mother.;}<br />

The dumb cane (b-day present from hubs) was upgraded to this cool planter. (Just plopped in) But, I'm going to have to remove all that plastic wrap and ribbon, it hinders my watering skills. <br />

Tired baby. He is so wore out. Water does that for some reason. Kale likes to suck his thumb and rub a 'silky' when he is tired. Here he is using Reba's ear, she doesn't mind. <br />

Hope your <a href="http://www.tootsietime.com/">Fertilizer Friday</a> is fabulous. We had church clean-up for the month, so I go to stay and help my mom and daughter. Good thing I did, because when we came home from our long road trip in the first of June, I found our old basset, my hero, and hubs' bestie, in sad sad shape.<br />
<br />

<br />
Mellow was 17 years old, and had been our baby for a LONG time.
His 'mellow' approach to life inspires me.
This blog is named after my Mellow's attitude. He raised many a child, mine, foster kids, kids I babysat, and lastly the grands.<br />
He was (almost) always very very mellow.<br />
Dear Mellow Yellow, Mellywelly, Smellywelly, Mell, Mellownatar, Melly and on and on. <br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Very camera shy Mellow, and Reba 12/10</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
Melly had quit eating, and drinking, and could barely move.<br />
No AAARRRRRRRROOOOOOOOing.<br />
None at all. <br />
I decided it was time to honor our (his and my) agreement. <br />
He would go with dignity. (he couldn't even get up to pee)<br />
My very sweet daughter took him in to the vet and held his paw while he passed. <br />
She sang "Mellow Yellow" to him, and brought his sweet lovingly wrapped body back to me, so that I could bury him in mom's yard.<br />
I'm glad I was there, I'm glad everything went so smoothly.<br />
I'm glad my hubs didn't have to make this choice, or see how bad our boy was.<br />
I'm SO glad my sweet daughter did what I don't think I could have.<br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Reba 1/2012</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
This left his widow alone. Reba, at seven, has never been alone. Her whole life, she has always been right by Melly's side. During the last month of his life, she lay by him, washing his head, and cried. And cried and cried. When my daughter took Mell to the vet, she stopped crying, and hasn't since. <br />
We didn't want to leave her alone, so we decided to try her on the 'road tripping' we are doing, with LadyBelle and LilDog.<br />
Of course, she is not a FULL house dog, and a BAD traveller, but what the hey!<br />
<br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Reba, LadyBelle, LilDog 7/12</td></tr>

We drove eight hours here, and she barfed very little.<br />
As you can see she caught on to the 'guest house' life fast. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Camper hounds, Reba, LadyBelle, LilDog 7/12 </td></tr>

Then we drove five hours to the 'camper' and she did even better.<br />
Ms. Reba has never been to the camper before, but, here too, she caught on quick.<br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Sunset 7/12</td></tr>

The sunset at the lake our camper is at was AWESOME!!<br />
And there was much romping on the part of the pooches.<br />
Gonna have to try taking the girls to the actual water and see what they do.<br />

In the actual camper, I saw this mess, what the hey? <br />
Further inspection showed it to be a<br />
SNAKE SKIN!!!!!!<br />
EEEEEEEKKKKKKKK!!!!!<br />
Hopefully hubs is right, that it's a rat snake, and it woke up, shed, realized there is no more mice in the camper (thanks to hubs poisoning:) and it moved on. Oh, I hope it moved on...*shudder*<br />

Then we drove five hours back to West Texas.<br />
I actually remembered my camera on our weekly drive around the ranch.<br />
These are regular sights, axis (orange) deer, white tail deer, jack rabbits.<br />
Not pictured (yet) are antelope, porcupine, rattle snakes, skunk, fox, and more.<br />
Then we made the drive eight hours back home. East Texas. <br />

She is actually playing some. She has done real well with the house breaking, and is very tolerant of Kale.
How thankful I am she was there for our Mellow.
And the joy she brings hubby. What a wonderful dog family we have.
I am thankful for the 'doggy' people hubs is working for.
And, of course, I'm very thankful I got to go home for the weekend, see three of my kiddos, two of my kid-in-laws, and four of my awesome grandkiddos:).<br />

I left the hubs in charge of <strike>loving</strike> <strike>caring</strike> watering my plants.<br />
What did I come back to? <br />
Death and destruction.<br />

Boo Hoo. <br />
Watering plants is not hubbys thing. <br />
AMAZING any thing lived. <br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Sad house plants, and another grow pot</td></tr>

Most the homeowner's house plants were laying down, and after a good soaking they stood up.<br />
Gonna have to cut off all those dead leaves.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-_REQMqtd6ks/T_cAWjY1nuI/AAAAAAAAJDo/XFl9Jctbn2k/s1600/107_2040.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-_REQMqtd6ks/T_cAWjY1nuI/AAAAAAAAJDo/XFl9Jctbn2k/s640/107_2040.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
I brought another grow box from home, it already had two squash plants (I may or may not keep), green beans, strawberry, pepper, and three starter plants from our trip to WI.<br />
I decided to use this one for starter plants from this area.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Pigeon berry. These do well in our area of Texas.<br />

Here, in west Texas, this is an awesome shady ground cover. When it gets regular water, it is glossy green, prostrate, soft on the feet, with tiny little yellow blooms. During dry times it rolls up and waits for rain. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-aBpQ3ZWs5gA/T_cBLH3y09I/AAAAAAAAJEQ/wwNzkR6see4/s1600/107_2045.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-aBpQ3ZWs5gA/T_cBLH3y09I/AAAAAAAAJEQ/wwNzkR6see4/s640/107_2045.JPG" width="480" /></a></div>
Then when it gets water, it unrolls, fluffs up, and bloom bloom blooms.<br />
Almost right before your eyes. <br />
I've heard of it being used as a ground cover for dog pens, and I know it does well in east Texas. <br />
At home it does well in the sun or shade. <br />
I have two really great places to try it at mom's this fall. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-6gDBx9ouQ8E/T_cBWDDGFZI/AAAAAAAAJEg/1e00o3xpQVA/s1600/107_2047.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-6gDBx9ouQ8E/T_cBWDDGFZI/AAAAAAAAJEg/1e00o3xpQVA/s640/107_2047.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
Also, growing wild here, is horehound (gray fuzzy in back).<br />
I mean every where.<br />
I've had these before in east Texas and they do very well.<br />
Three awesome plants I won't have to buy:).<br />

Day three and the horseherb (left) is already fluffing out, pigeon berry (back) not so much. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Guess it will have to shed it's leaves. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

These babies were inside, and like I said, amazingly survived...whew. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Back in June, while I was at mom's, the hubs surprized me with a flower deliverly,<br />
I HATE cut flowers.<br />
Well actually I hate that money was spent on cut flowers when I could have bought a live plant.<br />
All I really ever want from him on holidays is money. <br />
Money to spend where I want, on what I want.<br />
Anyways... <br />
When they were delivered, I was VERY pleased to see this plant!<br />
Different pattern, proven tough,<br />
Good job hubby dear!!!<br />
{don't know WHY hubby was surprised I brought it to the guest house with us,<br />
he should have known I would,<br />
it and the grow pot rode 8 hours to the work site guest house...<br />
along with the two bassets and the chimix!:)<br />

<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-T9y6-Z0u0ro/T_XrghmOpCI/AAAAAAAAI8c/Idvh6IbG3dY/s1600/107_1809.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-T9y6-Z0u0ro/T_XrghmOpCI/AAAAAAAAI8c/Idvh6IbG3dY/s640/107_1809.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
What a wonderful experience.<br />
So much tribute to the Mormon pioneers who were forced out of Ill.<br />
Seeking religious freedom they headed west, and 'over wintered' here, at Winter Quarters.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://winterquarters.com/index.html">(More Winter Quarters info)</a><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Using guidance from neighboring Native Americans, was their only hope. <br />
Later, some went on to Utah, but many stayed behind to help others. <br />
Always organized, they set up homes and supplies for their needs and future travelers.<br />
Thousands passed through here. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-_tkQuilBoFE/T_Xr0v5s3mI/AAAAAAAAI8s/YmlZGU9u_Bo/s1600/107_1812.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-_tkQuilBoFE/T_Xr0v5s3mI/AAAAAAAAI8s/YmlZGU9u_Bo/s400/107_1812.JPG" width="300" /></a></div>
Exiled in the harsh winter, many buried their loved ones in this nearby cemertery.<br />

But when we stepped out to go to the cemetery, it stopped.<br />
Humid and overcast, everything was a lovely green.<br />
We parked on the side of the road, googling for a restaurant, when suddenly what appeared???<br />

We over nighted in Omaha, then detoured a little more to go by the hubs' mom's home place.<br />
Dexter, Kansas.<br />

Mr. Henry created the Oh Henry bar, and they still make so much goodness on site. <br />
I won't tell how much we spent.<br />

Other direction.<br />
The plants are peonies.<br />
We had missed their blooms.<br />
In Wisconsin they were still in bloom.<br />
We don't have those in Texas. :(<br />
If I lived up north, I would have peonies. <br />

Every time we have been we have seen NO asparagus.<br />
This time we saw it EVERY where.<br />
Even next to the grave stones. <br />
And, of course, I didn't bring a shovel. :(<br />
But I.will.be.back.<br />
And I will be packing (a shovel).<br />

Then grandma moved from 'the farm' to 'town'.<br />
She lived here until she went to the nursing home, then heaven.<br />
I met her here shortly after we were married.<br />
Two years later she passed.<br />
I'm so glad the hubs took me up to meet her.<br />
Very glad. <br />
Last time we were in town, the current occupants shared some of the rose bush that was growing in the hedge row:<br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Spent blooms</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
It once grew in front of the house, but being old and sickly, was cut down.<br />
In 1988, while visiting, we asked for a cutting, but she said it was gone.<br />
<br />
Did she know it was growing in the hedgerow bordering the property?<br />
She didn't go outside and work in the yard then, and its on the other side of her line.<br />
How did it get in the hedgerow? <br />
Hmmmmmmmmm....<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Hubs feels like the next time we go back this house will be gone.<br />
It is in real bad shape.<br />
But the memories will still live on.<br />
<br />
<br />
After a great trip to see my step-kids in WI, Winter Quarters NB, and hubs maternal family spots in KS, we headed home to TX.<br />
Tired, full, and very pleased.<br />
Thank you, God, for the history.<br />
MY history.<br />
My people-my stories.<br />
This precious time on earth.<br />
Help me honor it.<br />
Help me honor you in my journey.<br />
And, again, thank you. <br />

The year began with the hubs working 8 hrs west of home, I had decided to stay at mom's until<br />
1. DJ and Brittany were married in March (beautiful, beautiful wedding:)<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-CtKzgGbX1Yg/T_XX_dtp0vI/AAAAAAAAI8Q/0aYQziaVYfI/s1600/a.jpg" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="512" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-CtKzgGbX1Yg/T_XX_dtp0vI/AAAAAAAAI8Q/0aYQziaVYfI/s640/a.jpg" width="640" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Great people I got to enjoy in May!</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
2. Taylor and Lindsey had granddarling #7 in May (beautiful, beautiful baby:)<br />
<br />
THEN I was able to join the hubs at the work site, in our cute guest house (that HE remodeled with all the luxuries.) <br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-yRHRJNlVspA/T_XGtrtd-qI/AAAAAAAAI1U/XP4KrUAvtyE/s1600/107_1721.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-yRHRJNlVspA/T_XGtrtd-qI/AAAAAAAAI1U/XP4KrUAvtyE/s640/107_1721.JPG" width="640" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Sweet guest house and 'new' pump house (on hill) that houses washer and dryer. </td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
After they tore down the old farm house, sweet hubs put a washer and dryer in the new pump house, just for me. <br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-KCgFVraGVOQ/T_XGyEWJN0I/AAAAAAAAI1c/TDMFsGjFh0A/s1600/107_1723.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-KCgFVraGVOQ/T_XGyEWJN0I/AAAAAAAAI1c/TDMFsGjFh0A/s400/107_1723.JPG" width="300" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Red-neck clothes line</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
BUT the dryer wouldn't hook up, so I used chairs and PVC pipe to hang up our laundry. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-LxRTP-QQr5E/T_XG25DGzqI/AAAAAAAAI1k/mtd5y9Y4sfw/s1600/107_1724.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-LxRTP-QQr5E/T_XG25DGzqI/AAAAAAAAI1k/mtd5y9Y4sfw/s400/107_1724.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
We planned on being gone five days, so this was plenty of time to dry everything.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-gyRbL1U-tOc/T_XG8c2ukKI/AAAAAAAAI1s/OIOIFjBm_q8/s1600/107_1725.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-gyRbL1U-tOc/T_XG8c2ukKI/AAAAAAAAI1s/OIOIFjBm_q8/s400/107_1725.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
{side note: the hubs got to put all this stuff up when he got back, and SOON after, a new dryer was found:)}<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-fzKmhZCbjNY/T_XHBlVLMGI/AAAAAAAAI10/l7_j2XFPVTk/s1600/107_1726.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-fzKmhZCbjNY/T_XHBlVLMGI/AAAAAAAAI10/l7_j2XFPVTk/s400/107_1726.JPG" width="400" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">LadyBelle, after being BANNED from the bed, over seeing my packing:)</td></tr>

Hubs, and I (and LilDog who had to come along because my dogsitter went on vacation:)<br />
Evergreens like these don't do well in East Texas, so we just oooooo'ed and aaaaahhhhh'ed at the trees. Also, there is a paved walk along the stream, winding through the trees, to a gazebo and back. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

It was spring time there, so everything was green and in bloom. <br />

I will not be with my precious granddarlings.<br />
I may not be going to see any fireworks. <br />
It may just be the hubs and I chillin in the guest house.<br />
BUT on the eight hour drive here last Saturday night,<br />
I drove by a firework show that took my breath away.<br />
As I got closer,<br />
I saw SO many cars parked on the side of the road,<br />
adults pulled over to watch the celebration. <br />
Grown-ups.<br />
Stopped for fireworks.<br />
I love it when we 'adults' remember who we are.<br />
<br />
<iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/LTnIS9sgkP8" width="420"></iframe> <br />
<br />
<b>We are awesome.</b><br />
<br />
<br />
Maybe we should act like it:).<br />
<br />
<br />
<i>If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and
pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I
hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. </i><br />

Little ones to Him belong,<br />
They are weak but He is strong.<br />
Yes, Jesus loves me!<br />

The Bible tells me so.<br />
<br />
Jesus loves me! He who died,<br />
Heaven's gate to open wide;<br />
He will wash away my sin,<br />
Let His little <span class="IL_AD" id="IL_AD6">child</span> come in.<br />
Yes, Jesus loves me!<br />
Yes, Jesus loves me!<br />
Yes, Jesus loves me!<br />
The Bible tells me so.<br />

Jesus loves me! loves me still,<br />
When I'm very weak and ill;<br />

<br />
<br />
<b>Wave on Wave </b><br />
<i>Pat Green, David Neuhauser & Justin Pollard</i><br />
<br />
Mile upon mile got no direction<br />
We're all playing the same game<br />
We're all looking for redemption<br />
We’re just afraid to say the name<br />
So caught up now in pretending<br />
What we're seeking is the truth<br />
I'm just looking for a happy ending<br />
All I'm looking for is you<br />
<br />
<i>And it came upon me wave on wave<br />
You're the reason I'm still here<br />
<b>Am I the one you were sent to save</b><br />
And it came upon me wave on wave</i><br />
<br />
I wondered out into the water<br />
And I thought that I might drown<br />
I don’t know what I was after<br />
Just know I was going down<br />
That's when she found me<br />
Not afraid anymore<br />
She said you know I always had you baby<br />
Just waiting for you to find what you were looking for<br />
<br />
<i>And it came upon me wave on wave<br />
You're the reason I'm still here<br />
<b>Am I the one you were sent to save</b><br />
And it came upon me wave on wave</i><br />
<br />
Wave on wave, wave on wave…<br />
<br />
<i>And it came upon me wave on wave<br />
You're the reason I'm still here<br />
<b>Am I the one you were sent to save</b><br />
And it came upon me wave on wave</i><br />
<br />
The clouds broke and the angels cried<br />
You ain't gotta walk alone<br />
That's why they put me in your way<br />
And it came upon me wave on wave<br />
<br />
<i>And it came upon me wave on wave<br />
You're the reason I'm still here<br />
<b>Am I the one you were sent to save</b><br />
And it came upon me wave on wave</i> <br />
<br />
I'm very thankful. My heart is full.<br />
Today the hubs and I are headed from Texas to Wisconsin for the wedding of son Aaron.<br />
I heard this on the radio, I was moved by the verse <i><b>'am I the one you were sent to save?'</b></i>.<br />
Before I prided myself in 'saving' my hubby.<br />
But, what if HE was sent to save me???<br />
~Sweetness~<br />

First these are the home-owners babies I get to keep an eye on (aka e-n-j-o-y:) while the hubs is rebuilding her house. We repotted a couple of onsite rose bushes, so we will see how they do. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-YTdzZVaq0HE/T85NkYVsYZI/AAAAAAAAI0M/1QsA8hi-gjU/s1600/107_1707.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-YTdzZVaq0HE/T85NkYVsYZI/AAAAAAAAI0M/1QsA8hi-gjU/s640/107_1707.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
I can see these from the front porch of our guest house, and I do enjoy them. Pretty pots too:).<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-hLfPTF60EjM/T85Nxwc04NI/AAAAAAAAI0U/ivmxS1RW32o/s1600/107_1708.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-hLfPTF60EjM/T85Nxwc04NI/AAAAAAAAI0U/ivmxS1RW32o/s1600/107_1708.JPG" /></a></div>
This is the 'shabby-chic' garden in the back of our guest house:). I think it was her Nana's spot. The homeowner's have had this place for over 150 years, I love the view of the hill country. Currently the edging is just propped up. Notice hubs rock ditch? This really is a construction site:)<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-kEFhA-HXRtQ/T85OBhzbNQI/AAAAAAAAI0c/YJffGoF8oik/s1600/107_1709.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-kEFhA-HXRtQ/T85OBhzbNQI/AAAAAAAAI0c/YJffGoF8oik/s640/107_1709.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
The fellas decided they needed to move her Nana's flowerbed, so I suggested the flower go in the spot Mrs.H (homeowner) had just cleared in the garden. Easy right?<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-dgGgAPuCsAw/T85OVFPWdgI/AAAAAAAAI0k/5f0bDdbq9t8/s1600/107_1710.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-dgGgAPuCsAw/T85OVFPWdgI/AAAAAAAAI0k/5f0bDdbq9t8/s640/107_1710.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
Little did I know that she had not only cleared, BUT had planted!! Luckily the little plants had popped up leaves or I would have dug them up when planting the re-located flower plants!!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-YW11xpGspHs/T85OoMaWXwI/AAAAAAAAI0s/gyCQaPQeSn8/s1600/107_1711.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-YW11xpGspHs/T85OoMaWXwI/AAAAAAAAI0s/gyCQaPQeSn8/s640/107_1711.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
She has asparagus, beans, winter squash and Nana's flowers (Iris, mum, lilies, etc), on the left; zucchini, summer squash, in back right: and peppers and tomatoes on the right front. One grape tomato plant is in the process of taking over the world. It has a large tomato cage in its near future. The soil here is so different, ours at home is sandy loam with clay or iron-ore under it. Here it is either dried out or muckly and limestone is about a foot deep. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-NGS1aWaa9OE/T85O4B3b3sI/AAAAAAAAI00/zSREitcVvvI/s1600/107_1712.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-NGS1aWaa9OE/T85O4B3b3sI/AAAAAAAAI00/zSREitcVvvI/s640/107_1712.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
These are my grow-pots from home. I didn't know Mrs.H had planted a garden to share. The beans and squash and cucumber are doing great. I moved them off the front porch to get more sun, I just have to remember the sprinkler doesn't water them like they need.<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-f0SdHoZWu7E/T85PI4AkBhI/AAAAAAAAI08/xArZV5UJPY8/s1600/107_1706.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-f0SdHoZWu7E/T85PI4AkBhI/AAAAAAAAI08/xArZV5UJPY8/s640/107_1706.JPG" width="640" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Besties, Basset: Ladybelle, and Chimix: LilDog chillxin in style..</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
I waited too late this morning to get those flowers in the garden, got hot fast, and I tell you I felt like my girls here...one tired puppy!! I'm going to wait til after supper to go hoe some more, and hopefully get the hubs to make me that large tomato cage!!<br />

Monday review: We FINISHED the two weeks with out starchs!!! My
before mentioned jeans are a little looser (WOOHOO!). I realize all
the exercise I've been doing has not affected my tummy much, I'm really
going to try to do some tummy exercises starting today.<br />
<br />
Today we add
back in healthy starches and fruit, one serving per meal. <br />
<br />
Hubs was SO
happy to have an egg, bacon, cheese, <b><i>toast</i></b> sandwich this morning. I
still need to work on breakfast and snacks (especially with the hubs), and planning
out a menu. Tues-Mon we will be on the road, and that may be tricky,
but I think I can figure out a way to be healthy-cheap-and most of
all-full. <br />

Peek-a-boo frog holding mini Sharry Baby orchid in planter box. Notice the shriveled up orchid to the right of it? That is my big Sharry Baby orchid that I nearly killed during our move last year. Since the little one bloomed and the big one survived, I really wanted to keep an eye on them<br />
(and daily tell them how much I love them:).<br />

I also brought two 'grow boxes' from my uncle's estate. I just couldn't resist them, then I couldn't resist planting them, knowing I would have to bring them 8 hours on the road to where we are staying. (I'm on a veggie kick and I can't stand the prices.) This is my first serious food gardening, and I say it's going well. I have two more planters to bring next time we come. Wind whipped, I lost a few leaves, but the blooms are still on the plants. They are planted with zucchini, summer squash, beans, and greens. <br />

Since they are self-watering pots, I decided to try starting some cuttings. This side has silver beacon vines, and privet my son helped me gather when we went for a walk together in Maryland.<br />
(Yes, I FLEW home with these cuttings in my carry on bag, why wouldn't I?)<br />
