Bloomin' Tuesday: 03/31/09

(fuzzy) Pink Champagne Clematis, Early Spring Bloom, Part Sun

Last year Lowe's had all their Clematis on sale. I bought one of each and planted them all together, thinking it would be easy to care for them.
THEN I found out different bloomers have different pruning needs.
Oh, well.
So as they are blooming, I'm going to document, and plan on making the adjustments to make sure I can prune them and keep them happy, for many more seasons of blooms:)

Say hello to my first Clematis bloom this year:)

Black Sunday, The Peace Treaty has been Violated!!!!

Life with a Monarch is a delicate thing.
Queen Uno has declared COMPLETE reign for many years.
She is a kind ruler, allowing her subjects MUCH freedom.
After seeing to her needs, her subjects may go about their business,
AND Queen Uno goes about hers.

But this Sunday things went VERY WRONG!!

It was ok when the subjects took it upon themselves to bathe the dumb dogs.
Dogs, unlike cats, NEED a bath every now and then.
AND they are owned BY the people,
unlike cats which OWN the people.

But THEN the people overpowered the Queen,
hosed her down,
suds her up,
hosed her down again,
then

left her to fix the mess they had made.

Queen Uno did not go down without a fight,
there much protesting in the form of yelling and screaming
(on both sides),
much blood was shed
(on the rebel subjects' part-NOT the Queen's) .

On Monday, the Queen reviewed the Peace Treaty with her disloyal subjects.
They WILL think twice before pulling another coo such as this again!

She may have lost the battle,

BUT Queen Uno has won the WAR!!

Son-Day: "The Old Rugged Cross"

What Happened to Your Hand by Lars Justinsen

The Old Rugged Cross was written in Albion, Michigan. Or Pokagon, Michigan. Or Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin. All three towns claim to be the birthplace of this hymn.

On a hill far away stood an old rugged cross,
The emblem of suffering and shame;
And I love that old cross where the dearest and best
For a world of lost sinners was slain.

So I’ll cherish the old rugged cross,
Till my trophies at last I lay down;
I will cling to the old rugged cross,
And exchange it some day for a crown.

O that old rugged cross, so despised by the world,
Has a wondrous attraction for me;
For the dear Lamb of God left His glory above
To bear it to dark Calvary.

So I’ll cherish the old rugged cross,
Till my trophies at last I lay down;
I will cling to the old rugged cross,
And exchange it some day for a crown.

In that old rugged cross, stained with blood so divine,
A wondrous beauty I see,
For ’twas on that old cross Jesus suffered and died,
To pardon and sanctify me.

So I’ll cherish the old rugged cross,
Till my trophies at last I lay down;
I will cling to the old rugged cross,
And exchange it some day for a crown.

To the old rugged cross I will ever be true;
Its shame and reproach gladly bear;
Then He’ll call me some day to my home far away,
Where His glory forever I’ll share.

So I’ll cherish the old rugged cross,
Till my trophies at last I lay down;
I will cling to the old rugged cross,
And exchange it some day for a crown.

Have a Blessed Son-Day!!!!

Thankful Thursday: 03/26/09

Guess where I went?

Yep, hubby and I went to the eye doctor (this actually looks like my old eye doc), this was our first time to see our new doctor and he was absolutely the nicest guy!

I bought contacts...
(don't ask me why one of these is so big:)

Apparently I'm a real grown up now, and at 40+ I qualify for bifocals...

I know I'm going to look great in them...

I am so thankful my eyes are healthy...

And now I can see colors and things sharper and brighter...

I am so thankful for our health and that we could afford this right now. Being able to see is a lovely thing:)

Have a GREAT Thankful Day!!

My goal this year is to soak it up, to bloom where I am planted, and enjoy the ride...
Counting my many blessings naming them one by one...

Son-Day: "What If"

What If by Nichole Nordeman

What if you're right?
And he was just another nice guy
What if you're right?
What if it's true?
They say the cross will only make a fool of you
And what if it's true?

What if he takes his place in history
With all the prophets and the kings
Who taught us love and came in peace
But then the story ends
What then?

But what if you're wrong?
What if there's more?
What if there's hope you never dreamed of hoping for?
What if you jump?
And just close your eyes?
What if the arms that catch you, catch you by surprise?
What if He's more than enough?
What if it's love?

What if you dig
Way down deeper than your simple-minded friends
What if you dig?
What if you find
A thousand more unanswered questions down inside
That's all you find?

What if you pick apart the logic
And begin to poke the holes
What if the crown of thorns is no more
Than folklore that must be told and retold?

You've been running as fast as you can
You've been looking for a place you can land for so long

But what if you're wrong?

Bloomin' Tuesday: 03/24/09

Kalachoe blooming brightly:

Beautiful, full, and fragrant cyclamen:

The happy kitchen window:

Outside, snapdragons in pink:

And buttery yellow:

The tropical pot is cut back and now on the front deck (left corner); with a maple sugar hibiscus on its left; a pot of a running rose, iris, rosemary, bird of paradise, and snap dragons: last in white pot mint, violas, and yellow snap dragons: (can you spot which kitty is real?)

Son-Day: "There Is Sunshine In My Soul Today"

There is Sunshine in My Soul Today
There is sunshine in my soul today,
More glorious and bright
Than glows in any earthly sky,
For Jesus is my Light.

(Refrain)
O there’s sunshine, blessèd sunshine,
When the peaceful, happy moments roll;
When Jesus shows His smiling face,
There is sunshine in the soul.

There is music in my soul today,
A carol to my King,
And Jesus, listening, can hear
The songs I cannot sing.

Refrain

There is springtime in my soul today,
For, when the Lord is near,
The dove of peace sings in my heart,
The flowers of grace appear.

Refrain

There is gladness in my soul today,
And hope and praise and love,
For blessings which He gives me now,
For joys “laid up” above.

Refrain
